Charles R. Norman Vocational-Technical Memorial Scholarship

The Charles R. Norman Memorial Vocational Technical Scholarship was established to
help honor the memory of Charles Norman and his time as a teacher at Reed High
School. During his many years as an auto shop teacher, Mr. Norman was known for
saying his career, hobby and passion were all the same. This one time $1000
scholarship is open to students seeking a vocational-technical career. The scholarship
can be used at a technical or vocational school of the recipient’s choice, including
TMCC and UNR.

Scholarship Requirements:

• Minimum 2.0 GPA 
• School involvement 
• Teacher letter or recommendation 
• Short essay 
  • Please submit a typed essay answering following:
    • Where do you plan to further your education?
    • What is your area of interest, and how did you become interested in it? 
    • Why degree or certification do you hope to achieve?
    • What do you hope to do when your training is complete? 

Turn in your completed application and additional items to Mrs. Smith in the CCC early April.

Jacob Roberts Memorial Scholarship Application

The Jacob Roberts Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Jacob Roberts.  Jacob graduated valedictorian from Reed High School in 2011 with a 5.6 GPA. He attended Seattle University in Seattle Washington where he was studying physics.  He passed away from an accidental fall right before finishing his first year of college. Jacob planned to finish his studies at a four-year university and then continue on to Graduate School to get his PhD and become a physicist.  Besides his passion for physics, he enjoyed theater and guitar.  Jacob was a very positive influence on many people’s lives.  His education was very important to him, so we have set up this scholarship to help support others with their education.

Amount: $1,000.00

Must meet the following criteria

       -Reed High School Senior

          -Attending an out of state four-year university in the fall

          -Minimum High School GPA: 3.5

The Stan Cooper Memorial Scholarship

This one-time $1500 Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a  graduating senior at Reed High School.

Mr. Cooper was a high school teacher and coach of 30 years, who retired from Reed High School in December of 2017. Throughout his teaching career, Stan loved teaching and working with kids, coaching football, baseball, and softball.

Scholarship Fund Guidelines/Requirements: In order to be eligible to receive a scholarship, applicants must: *Demonstrate good citizenship *Minimum 3.5 weighted or unweighted GPA *Graduate from Reed High School in 2025 *Plan on attending university/college/trade school in the fall semester of 2025 *Submit an essay of 100 words or more *Submit a letter of recommendation from a current teacher at Reed High School

Process:

• All applications must be submitted by April 10th

• Must include essay, letter of recommendation and a copy of their transcripts

• Scholarships will be presented at the Senior Scholarship Night Ceremony in May
